Today we are becoming an extension of the Climate Justice Fast that is happening in Copenhagen and throughout the world today to support those who have been fasting for over 40days- asking for climate justice.
40 days is a long time to fast, as negotiations edge closer and closer to a close, we join them on this day to highlight the absolute necessity of our world leaders bringing home a real honest and morally sound treaty that we can believe in, one that we can be proud of.
The fact that young people have come to fasting for many days in order to show leaders the seriousness of the effects climate change is having on developing countries where people are set to experience more hunger, disease and conflict, is a shameful truth of the people we have come to elect to represent us. However, there is another truth, and that is of the strength, will and determination of my people world wide, of our generations who are inspirationally, relentless and unyielding in our individual and collective battle for this future we see, a future where our planet maintains it’s beauty, it’s bio diversity and it’s livability. A future where we don’t hide from the truths of our human effect on our Earth, but more importantly a future where we progress in the re-design of the way this world is run, re-designing our energy supplies, our agricultural methods, our travel systems, our teaching, our learning and our international laws so that they reflect the high moral standard of the people themselves…
Fasting can be a challenge, but i will enjoy every moment of it knowing that my brothers and sisters fasting for climate justice in Copenhagen continue the fight knowing they have the support of the global community. May they receive the ongoing strength and light we’re sending them. They are the real representation of us here in Australia and throughout every street, town and village of the world.
